Hatteras Island Ocean Center owns 1.5 acres of oceanfront acreage which is open to the public. By this summer, we hope to provide a dune walkover. Directly across Highway 12 the Ocean Center owns 0.75 acres that is available for parking. After you park your vehicle in our lot you are welcome to walk across Highway 12 (please use caution—there is no crosswalk) and walk over the dune to access the beautiful beach which is in Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Ocean Center Beach Area is used for our oceanfront programs and events; longer-term our goal is to build a world-class fishing pier, pier house, bathhouse, beach volleyball courts, and more. Please learn more about our plans and then make a donation and/or buy a pier pass. Help a pier appear!
